To The Filter is a site-responsive group show located in the smoking area of Curtin University’s Bentley campus, adjacent to the 202 building.

The exhibition responds to ritual acts, chance encounters, and shared experiences formed in informal communal spaces. The works explore the kinship found in smoking areas, as well as the individual logic and contradictions that shape the act of smoking itself.

As the site undergoes transformation, it remains a place for pause - one that embraces those who have been shunned for their habitual acts. These spaces also carry a distinct psychogeography, shaped by movement, exchange, and attachment. This show highlights the unique relationship formed between the smoker and the sanctioned environment.

Group show alongside Angus Bowskill, Benjamin Yaxley, Bethan Power, and Brent Halligan.
Curated by Angus Bowskill and Phoebe Campbell.
